Ringing of breeding birds in France

The campaign to monitor the French breeding population by color ringing was initiated in 2012 in Marais Breton (Vendée), to understand the demographic parameters and so complete the annual count of the number of pairs present in the early 2000s. The birds are equipped with orange flag rings or FR engraved rings.

Ringing of migratory and wintering birds in France

Two other programs exist in France:

  • color ringing of waders, carried by Philippe Delaporte on the Nature Reserve Moëze Oléron (Charente Maritime), established in 2001. The birds are all carrying orange flag rings. Learn more
  • color ringing of waders, carried by Guillaume Gélinaud on the Nature Reserve of Séné Marshes (Morbihan), also set up in 2001. The birds are all wearing a green ring on the right or left.
